The Guild Starfire I DC makes a refreshed comeback and brings a number of just as fresh upgrades. This Newark St. Collection reissue has a thinner neck, a fitted centre-block, and two new Guild HB-2 Humbuckers. The thinner neck profile immediately lifts the playability of this vintage-styled hollowbody, while the modern touch of the centre-block fitted under the arched top has the double benefit of reducing on-stage feedback and adding a little more stability in terms of both tuning and intonation. The specially developed pair of HB-2 pickups shape a deliciously classic Fifties-slash-Sixties double-wound sound with a nice extra dose of definition and, to broaden the tonal palette further, a push/pull coil-split is provided. This version of the reborn Starfire has been finished with a stopbar tailpiece.

An excellent guitar at a very reasonable price as a bankrupt stock item, The only fault I could find was the protective pick guard film was lifting. This instrument is very well made with a slim neck and low action in beautiful Pelham blue. It plays very well with split coil pick-ups delivering a very good tonal range from warm sustain to edgy trebles. It was delivered promptly and on time. Thank you Bax Music. I highly recommend this instrument.
